Healthful Practices Among Blood Donors in a Low-Income Setting

Background: Blood donation is sustained by the availability of healthy donors. It does not only require recruiting new donors, but also maintaining existing ones in optimal health. As recruitment donors guaranteed, it essential that are always good shape. The study therefore assesses lifestyles and habits a sample recurrent blood their demographic characteristics, motivations for donation. Methods: This was cross-sectional involving 127 between ages 17 60 years Korle-bu, Ghana. Participants were sampled snowball method administered pre-tested electronic questionnaires. data summarised using Numbers software Apple Inc. then analysed. Results: All non-smokers engaged conscientiously at least one habit sort, with 60.3% actively following fitness schedules. There no lifestyle-related health conditions or substance addictions. Up to 94% respondents had attained university education. Motivations donations revolved mostly around altruism almost half (46.5%) conceded being made them live healthier. Conclusion: Voluntary selected low-income setting conscious, donor status significantly affected this way life, more indirectly than directly. More because practised predominantly personal well-being oriented reinforced desire donate many situations.
